Freshwater pearls are unique, but mostly have attarective prices. They are widely known of great variety of shapes, sizes and colours, the character of a freshwater pearl is found in its distinctive surface texture and the warmth of its luster. Natural colours of freshwater pearls are white, peach and lavender in different shades and intensity in between.
These pearls are best known for their whimsical shapes: round, nearly round, oval, drop, buton, corn and irregular baroque. Among them one can find richness of colours (black, blue, green, brown or yellow), but these colours come from human intervention, i.e. special chemical treatment.

At freshwater pearl farms each mussel is surgically implanted with 24 to 32 tiny pieces of mantle tissue in a proces of nucleation. Over the course of 2 to 7 years a sac foms and cells begin to secret nacre around the growing gem ovarall producing two dozens of pearls inside each shell.
